Top 5 Wednesday: Diverse Characters
1. Aristotle & Dante from Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz (Gay/Mexican American characters)
2. Junior from The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie (Native American Character)
3. Park in Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell (half-Korean character)
4. Christopher in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon (Character with autism)
5. Hannah in Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (character suffering from depression/suicidal)
It took me a long time to pick these five characters. While doing some research into picking characters I realized I actually read a lot of books with diverse characters. Mostly books with gay/lesbian characters or characters suffering from any sort of mental illness. I was happy to see that I do actually read many books with diverse characters and can count most of these books among my favorites.
