Top 5 Wednesday: Halloween Recommendations

Top 5 Wednesday: Halloween Recommendations

  1. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
  2. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
  3. Zom-B by Darren Shan
  4. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
  5. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

I’m not a huge reader of “scary books” which is what I think of when I think of Halloween. Anything written by Neil Gaiman, that I’ve read (pretty much just the two I listed above) has a huge creep factor. He has a great way of keeping you on the edge of your seat but not scaring you half to death. I chose Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Zom-B for pretty much the same reasons. Ransom Riggs and Darren Shan’s writing remind me of the creepiness of Neil Gaiman’s. I chose The 5th Wave because the thought of an alien invasion is about as scary as it gets for me. There are my top 5 recommendations for books to read during the Halloween season.
